MEN WIN IN REVENGE MATCH AGAINST WALTON! (05/10/07)
Victory was sweet last night as the Hoya men matched skills with the Walton team and came up as the winners. Harrison last played and lost to Walton in in last year's state final's game. It took until 10:28 left in the first half before the first goal was made by Eric Cobleigh. In the second half, it looked like Walton had more possession on the ball than Harrison, but that ended, again with only 16:43 left in the game, when Cobleigh made another goal. This revitalized the team and Alex Evert made another goal at the 13:24 mark on the clock. At the eight second mark, Alex decided to tease the goalie, pulled him out, and then made an easy goal to end the game 4-0.
Goalkeeper: Patrick Martineau
First half:
10:28 Eric Cobleigh
Second half:
16:43 Eric Cobleigh
13:24 Alex Evert
00:08 Alex Evert
Congratulations, Hoyas and we'll be there in Alpharetta Saturday at 7:30pm for the final match of the Georgia State Playoffs!

MEN WIN TO GO ON TO THE SEMI-FINALS (05/06/07) The men won their quarter-final game against Houston Co. winning 3-1. This positions the men for a semin-final face-off with Walton. The Hoyas last played Walton in last year's state finals. This game will be played Wednesday night May 9th at 7:30 pm in Hoya Stadium. Come out and cheer our men's team on to a win and to again play at the state finals.

MEN SPARE THEMSELVES ANOTHER PENALTY KICK ENDING: (05/03/07) The game was soccer as it can be played when you have two great teams facing off. However, the Hoya men, had the edge and desire to win that allowed them to beat Peachtree Ridge in the second round of the state playoffs. The first half of the game was scoreless. At 36:18 in the second half, Peachtree Ridge made the first game goal, but five minutes later Michael Hansen drilled the ball into Peachtree Ridge's goal to tie the game. As the two teams fought hard to score, time ran out. Entering the first overtime period, and with only 20 seconds left on the clock, Austin Steele hammered another goal to end the match 2-1.

WOMEN'S PLAYOFFS, GAME 2: YOU MAKE THE CALL (05/03/07)
The Lady Hoyas were ready for this game. Jamie Pollock made the first goal of the night at the 18:58 mark. Lassiter, however, came back at the 1:53 mark to post their first goal. It was at the 16:41 left in the second half that Lassiter broke the 1-1 tie with their second goal. Despite the goals made, Mackenzie Vasina put up a great defense at the goal. With less than two minutes left to the games, Jamie Pollock made a great run with the ball up the side and kick a hard shot to the goal. Lassiter's goalkeeper, however, blocked the ball. Not going out of bounds, Lauren Martin was there to kick it into the goal. It was with great regret that the team heard the referree call the goal back on an off-sides. Was it a fair call? You make the call. The end result, however, was that the Ladies lost the second round to Lassiter, 1-2.

INSPIRATION TO KICK OFF THE PLAYOFFS (04/24/07)
"Obstacles are those frightening things that you see when you take your eyes off the goal."

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
It is almost certain you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will-
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
    Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one WHO THINKS HE CAN!

    team congratulations

VARSITY TEAMS WIN AGAINST Kennesaw Mt. (02/28/07)
Last night the Varsity Women stressed their parents out big time. Kennesaw Mt. made the only goal in the first half of game time. During the half-time huddle, however, they apparently were inspired when Jamie Pollock scored a goal not 30 seconds into the second half tieing the score at 1-1. Not quite 8 minutes later, Kennesaw Mt. put the pressure on and scored another goal. The score remained tied until the 02:27 mark when Alison Skelton made a goal. That one was quickly followed by another Lady Hoya goal with only 01:14 left on the clock by Kelli Corless. Goalkeepers were Rebecca Ballard (1st half) and Makenzie Vasina (2nd half). The Lady Hoyas won their first region game 3-2!

The Men's Varsity team seemed to take a lesson from the ladies. The first half of the game against Kennesaw Mt. was scoreless. In the second half, Kennesaws Mt. posted a goal on the scoreboard first. But, to outdo the ladies, it wasn't until only 23 seconds remained on the clock, when Michael Hansen made the tieing goal which held til the end of the game. No goals were made by either team in the first 5-minute overtime. Halfway through the second overtime, 02:49, Alex Evert made the winning goal off a beautiful corner kick by Kevin Myers. With no other goals in the remaing two-and-a-half minutes of play, the men won their first region game 2-1! Goalkeeper for the game was Patrick Martineau. LESSON: After polling the parents, it was unanimous. Our players need to score early, score big, and hold that lead...your parents' hearts just can't take the stress anymore.

    JV PLAYS KENNESAW MT (02/26/07)
The Hoya JV teams faced off against Kennesaw Mt. and came away with a 0-1 loss for the Ladies and a 1-1 tie for the Men. Richard Westerfield made the single goal for Harrison.

50-50 SPLIT AGAIN WITH ROSWELL (02/24/07)
Last night the Varsity Women faced off against Roswell and, overall, it wasn't the best they could play. Roswell scored first in the first half. The few exciting moments of the game were when the Ladies tied the score with a goal by Sara McDaniel on a pass from Jamie Pollock at the 23:55 mark in the second half. Alex Dunlap, goalkeeper, made a wonderful save, but collided with a Roswell player and had to leave the game. And late in the game, Jessica Kramer made a fantastic save that prevented a goal by Roswell, but she wound up hitting her head on the goalpost and was taken out of the game. The Lady's final score: T 1-1.

As the temperatures got colder, but not as cold as last Friday's game against Starr's Mill, the Men put in a solid performance with Kirk Schwartz making his first start as goalkeeper. The Men won 4-2 and Eric Cobleigh got himself a hat trick! Results:
         First half:
    26:04 Eric Cobleigh
         Second half:
    27:26 Eric Cobleigh
03:53 Michael Hansen on a PK
02:46 Eric Cobleigh on a beautiful pass from JC Ely.

What a turn around from last week! Last night proved to be much warmer in temperatures (no hats and mittens in sight) and hotter in game action. Both the ladies and men's JV teams had shutouts. Congratulations players and coaches!

COLD NIGHTS AGAINST STARRS' MILL TEAMS (02/18/07)
You couldn't have asked for two more colder nights than Thursday (2/15) and Friday (2/16) when Harrison played it's nemesis, Starr's Mill at home. There was lots of great, competitive action, but little scoring for the Hoyas. Results are:

    CONGRATULATIONS VARSITY TEAMS (02/15/07)
The first games of the season were held Tuesday night when the varsity teams competed against Centennial High School in Roswell. Both the women's varsity and the men's varsity teams won with 3-0 and 7-1 scores, respectively.

With the rain that fell earlier in the day and the cooling evening temperatures, the field was shrouded in fog, but that didn't stop our players from scoring:

THANK YOU BOOSTER CLUB MEMBERS! (02/11/07)
The Harrison Soccer Booster Club Board would like thank the numerous parents, old and new, for giving their time over the past several weeks to help launch the beginning of our soccer season. It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to ensure that uniform distribution, Pot Luck Dinner and Picture Day run smoothly and this could not happen without our tremendous parent volunteer base.

With 17 graduating seniors between the men's and women's programs several of our volunteers will be leaving after this season and it will be up to those remaining to carry on the tradition of excellence that is Harrison soccer. There are still opportunities to volunteer such as announcing, Senior Night and the End of Season Banquet. Thanks again for volunteering and we will see you at the games.

Now it is time to support our players and coaches and come out to watch some great soccer!

    GO HOYAS!
    HHS Soccer Booster Club Board

    What a Week (02/11/07)
This has been a busy two weeks for the players, coaches, board, and parent volunteers...
    • We had about 100 players try out for positions on four teams!
    • We rostered a record-breaking 87 players!
    • Anita and her volunteers distributed almost all the uniform kits to those 87 players...a few are on their way (had to order extra uniforms)!
    • We had a successful Pot Luck Dinner for all the selected team players and their families. More pictures were added to the Photo Gallery and we now have 95 pictures posted from the dinner!
    • We survived the bitter cold Team Picture Day and pizza lunch. Take a peek at the 81 pictures posted!
    • The Women's and Men's varsity teams are ranked #1 and #2, respectively, in the state by Eurosportscoreboard.com!
What an awesome place to be at the beginning of the season and a lot of hard work is yet ahead of us! GO HOYAS!
