Booster Club Membership, Fundraising, and Volunteers

Membership

The Harrison High Soccer Booster Club would like to welcome you and thank you in advance for your support during the 2007 soccer season. We'd like to also congratulate our Varsity Men's and Women's teams who are the 2005 AND 2006 Region 5AAAAA Champions! Let's do it again in 2007 and go all the way to winning the state championship!

We are proud of all our players and coaches and are looking forward to another successful year. Our primary goal is...
...to support the players, the coaching staff, and the school administration here at Harrison High School in having a successful and fun soccer program.
We also promote the pursuit of excellence in all of the athletic and scholastic endeavors of our players. Parental support is our key to doing this. Soccer Booster Club members support the soccer organization here at Harrison High School by providing:
  • Player Game Uniforms (uniform, sweat shirt/pants, and game-day socks)
  • 2 practice tee shirts per player
  • Pre-season team building event
  • Coaches Shirts
  • Coaches membership fees to the Georgia High School Coaches' Association
  • Coaches continued education funding
  • Practice balls, nets, cones, etc.
  • Field maintenance and a substantial financial commitment for the new stadium SprintTurf.
To provide this support, we ask each family to pay a total fee of $500 per player:
  • Membership fee of $150 is due at uniform pick-up.
  • Souvenir Program Ad obligation of $350 is required, either in credited ad sales by the deadline of January 29th, or by direct payment of the balance at the Pot Luck Dinner.

Fundraising - Souvenir Program

The primary fundraiser for the Booster Club has always been selling the program ads. Selling ads help raise the funds necessary to proudly put our players on the field, without draining our pocketbooks. We are asking each family to sell $350 in ads per player. Of course, you can sell more. You may wish to purchase a personal ad for your own player. Make a list of all the businesses you regularly support (i.e. dry cleaners, banks, grocery stores, restaurants, doctors, etc.) and then ask them to support the Harrison High School Soccer Program.

Each potential player should receive an information packet in December. Enclosed you will find a sponsor letter, commitment form, and a sample program. Please make as many copies of the form and letter as you need. Checks should be collected at the time of the sale and made payable to the Harrison Soccer Booster Club. Also, include artwork they want in their ad. If the company wants the same ad as last year please indicate this and we can print the same one. All personal ads should be typed, not hand written. All company ads should be camera ready. All ads are subject to approval and should not be for tobacco, alcohol or firearms.

If your sponsor cannot run an ad, but wishes to donate a service or item, or gift certificate, we will auction/raffle these or give as prizes.

Ads are due by end of January to:
          Kathy or Bruce Riggs
          Program Coordinators
          5864 Brookstone Walk
          Acworth, GA 30101
          770-422-8320

In addition to another thank you letter, each sponsor will receive a copy of the program containing his or her ad. Donation sponsors will also be listed on a page in the program.

Fundraising - Pennies for Birdies

The annual BellSouth Classic Golf Tournament sponsors an fund raising opportunity for nonprofit clubs and charity organizations. You make a donation in the name of Harrison High School Soccer Booster Club. The club receives the donation while BellSouth coordinates the collection of the donations and distributes them to the Booster Club.

Sometime before the BellSouth Classic Golf Tournament in late March, early April, you:
  • Pledge $0.01 or more per birdie, OR make a one-time donation.
  • Return the completed form to the Harrison High School Booster Club AND
  • Have a chance to win a prize by guessing the exact number of birdies made by the PGA TOUR pros Wednesday through Sunday of tournament week.
Based on results from previous BellSouth Classics, it is expected that more than 1,500 birdies will be made.

You will also be eligible for a random drawing for great additional prizes, including weekend golf packages, golf equipment and merchandise.

After the tournament, you will be mailed an invoice for your pledge amount due. You can pay by check. BellSouth will accummulate all pledges to Harrison High School Soccer Booster Club and mail us a check for the combined pledges!

Thanks for your support in both fund raising activities!

Take Time to Volunteer!

As we said earlier, parental support is our key to a successful season. The soccer fees will provide equipment, services, and facilities which are not provided by the school. It is with that resolve that we ask for your help and participation in the various soccer team committees and activities that provide the backbone for this organization and our student athletes.

There are never enough volunteers and numerous opportunities exist for you to participate at whatever level you can contribute. Our major committees and their functions include:
  • MEMBERSHIP: Coordinates membership drives, dues collections, and maintenance of team rosters.
  • COMMUNICATIONS: Provides the inter communication between the Booster Club Officers, Coaches, School Administration and our membership at large. Help is also needed for all four teams to act as an announcer at all home games.
  • HOSPITALITY: Serves as the social segment of our organization as they coordinate all booster sponsored banquet and press box activities - such as team meals, the Pot Luck & Banquet dinners, and Senior Night.
  • CONCESSIONS: Responsible for the coordination, supervision, and scheduling of staffing of the concession stand at all home games. All parents will be assigned a game to staff the concession stand.
  • FUNDRAISING: Oversees our fund raising projects which include the Souvenir Program and Pennies for Birdies.
  • MERCHANDISE: Responsible for selecting and selling spirit wear.
  • WEB SITE: Coordinates with all the committees to post information and pictures available on the Harrison Hoya Website.
The students and Booster Club really need your help for a successful season. Please see, or call, any committe chair to volunteer.
